I don’t remember if there was anything that happened with Sigourney Weaver‘s character in Avatar after she died — did she get sucked up into that glowing tree? — but she’s coming back for not just Avatar 2, but for Avatar 3 and Avatar 4 as well, and she will be transforming in some way.
“It will be challenging for me,” Weaver told Vulture. “I can’t talk about it, but my part is a little different in each one. I’ll transform somewhat.”
Now if she becomes some god-like voice I’m going to want to punch the screen, but given the nature of the first film and its “get in touch with nature” message this would seem like something entirely possible, but, of course, I have no idea as Weaver’s quote doesn’t exactly give us enough to go on. Maybe she’s just blowing smoke up our ass and what she really means is Dr. Grace Augustine is simply transforming from a live person to a dead person. One can only hope.
James Cameron is currently preparing for all three Avatar sequels, which will shoot back-to-back-to-back with Avatar 2 expected in December 2016 with the next two following each subsequent year later.
