‘Ant-Man’ Casts Its Villain in Matt Gerald

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier wracking up huge dollars at this weekend’s box office it’s never soon enough to look forward to what else Marvel is bringing us, one such new addition to their “Cinematic Universe” is Edgar Wright‘s Ant-Man as Wright has cast the film’s villain.

The identity of the character is not yet known, but the chief villain in the feature will be played by Matt Gerald who recently played a character known as White Power Dave in the Marvel short All Hail the King found on the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray, as well as Havoc in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Dwayne Johnson‘s brother in Faster and a small role in Avatar. So, no, he’s not a big name, but Marvel has done well with making use of smaller names both in front of and behind the camera.

Ant-Man, which is set for a July 17, 2015 release, centers on biochemist Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) who uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects. Paul Rudd, Michael Peña, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson and Corey Stoll co-star.
