‘The Maze Runner’ Poster Brings Another YA Adaptation to the Fold

Fox has revealed the first poster for the adaptation of James Dashner‘s novel, The Maze Runner.

Directed by Wes Ball, the film is yet another young adult sci-fi film, this set in a post-apocalyptic dystopia where Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they’re all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow “runners” for a shot at escape.

Along with O’Brien the film co-stars Thomas Sangster, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Cooper, Aml Ameen and Patricia Clarkson.

I’m sure we’ll see elements of The Hunger Games and probably even Divergent, as those two franchises seem incredibly familiar, and it’s a real mystery as to what makes these films stick with audiences and which ones miss. Considering Divergent is hitting theaters this weekend and The Maze Runner won’t be here until September 19, perhaps the distant separation will allow both to be successful… I don’t know. I do know I’d hate to be a studio exec, trying to figure out which young adult franchise will be the next Harry Potter, Twilight or Hunger Games. Doesn’t seem like an easy job.
