A new Star Wars: Episode VII rumor has surfaced, saying 12 Years a Slave star and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o is up for a role in the new J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars film. Latino Review first broke the story with the only comment from Nyong’o’s representatives saying, “We’re not allowed to talk about that.” The story was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
The two sources give different possibilities for her character, Latino Review saying she may play a Sith alongside Adam Driver (“Girls”) as the film’s main villain, and THR saying the role may be as one of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s descendants.
In other Nyong’o news, she was apparently in the mix for the Tiger Lilly role in Joe Wright‘s Pan that eventually went to Rooney Mara and is in the running for a role in a courtroom drama titled The Whole Truth opposite Daniel Craig.
