Call it an extended trailer or a shortened movie and what you end up with is this new six-minute trailer for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Fox; 12/25), which I will finally be seeing tonight.
Directed by and starring Ben Stiller, Mitty is a remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye starrer, which itself was based on the 1939 short story by James Thurber. The story centers on Mitty (Stiller), a man who escapes his unexciting daily life by delving into elaborate daydreams in which he is suddenly a heroic character.
Reviews have been very mixed across the board, which makes me even more intrigued. Based on some people I’ve heard from I could be in for a very long 114 minutes, but who knows, I’ve been surprised before.
