If there’s one thing the Transformers franchise gets right it’s the fact giant robots need big swords. It took Pacific Rim nearly two acts to realize how handy such a medieval device would be in the metallic hands of such an advanced piece of machinery and the new incarnation of Optimus Prime, as will be featured in Transformers: Age of Extinction, is sort of rubbing it in on the cover of Empire Magazine as seen below.
The sneak peek at the cover came via Empire who also bring the above behind-the-scenes photo, featuring director Michael Bay attempting to kill some of his actors/stuntmen.
Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters on June 27, 2014 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing and T.J. Miller.
As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessman and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control – all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues.
