Probably the most anticipated awards season film that hasn’t yet been seen by anyone is David O. Russell‘s American Hustle and with word Russell will receive a special tribute at AFI Fest on Friday, November 8, it’s now speculated Hustle will have a surprise screening there as well. It makes sense given the tribute and the fact The Fighter had a special screening at AFI back in 2010 before going on to win two Oscars and nominated for five more.
Right now all the Oscar talk is centered on 12 Years a Slave and Gravity because people have a hard time seeing five feet in front of them, but it still seems like this year is just waiting for that last minute major crowd pleaser to emerge and it’s hard not to think this just might be it.
Described as a a fictional telling of a true story, American Hustle follows con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper), who pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting.
Additional cast members include Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence, all of which are featured on the following brand new poster, which essentially combines the previously released character posters, which you can view individually right here.
American Hustle will hit limited theaters on December 13 before going wide five days later on the 18th.
