New ‘Paranormal Activity: Marked Ones’ Dia de Los Muertos Preview

I don’t watch trailers and typically that doesn’t mean I miss any pertinent information when it comes to a film’s release or even previewing it for you, but one commenter pointed out a mistake I made when I posted Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones yesterday. That mistake being, the film isn’t in Spanish.

For as long as I can remember, this film has been teased as a Latino-themed spinoff/cousin to the Paranormal Activity franchise, which I wrongly assumed it would be made for a Spanish-speaking audience and be presented with subtitles. Wrong. I guess it will just involve Latino actors and based on what Fandango has to say, it’s set “in the barrios of Oxnard, California.” Of course it is.

Oh well, the obvious assumption to make is Paramount thought general audiences wouldn’t go see a horror film with subtitles and you know what, they’re probably right. Then again, if you make a Dia de Los Muertos-themed preview, then you can throw in a little Spanish and people will think it’s all part of the marketing.
