I can only assume the image below is some sort of an effects test with a stuntman, but director Edgar Wright (The World’s End) is certainly teasing Marvel fans with this behind-the-scenes look at Ant-Man by posting the image on Twitter with a note saying, “Now I’m back in LA, it’s high time to finish a little something I’ve been working on…”
Ant-Man is currently slated for a July 31, 2015 release, telling the story of biochemist Dr. Hank Pym who uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects. Wright co-wrote the script with with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
As of right now no one has been cast in the film, which is what leads me to believe this is merely an effects test and could even be just a shot from the test film Wright made for Marvel suits to prove Ant-Man was a viable character for the big screen.
The film is being eyed as the first feature in what Marvel Studios has dubbed their “Phase Three” as it will follow directly on the heels of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
