Trailer for Animated Film ‘The Nut Job’

I can only assume Open Road’s The Nut Job will have an Oscar-qualifying run in December, but considering the studio is basically unloading it on January 17, 2014 suggests it isn’t something to take seriously. Good thing, because I updated my Best Animated Feature Oscar predictions this morning and nixed Nut Job from the list after not hearing about it for ages. Sorry, if you want your film to be given attention, let us know.

As for what it’s about, here’s the synopsis:

In animated 3D, The Nut Job is an action-packed comedy in fictional Oakton that follows the travails of Surly (voiced by Will Arnett), a mischievous squirrel, and his rat friend Buddy, who plan a nut store heist of outrageous proportions and unwittingly find themselves embroiled in a much more complicated and hilarious adventure.

The voice cast includes Liam Neeson, Katherine Heigl, Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph. Check out the trailer below.
