Josh Brolin Joins the Cast of Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Inherent Vice’

I’ve reported on every other little bit of casting for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice so why not this one as well. Josh Brolin has reportedly signed to take on a “key role” in the film though which character specifically has not been revealed. Filming on the project is already underway as Brolin joins Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Martin Short, Jena Malone and potentially Sean Penn in the film which will be distributed by Warner Bros. in 2014.

The pic is based on Thomas Pynchon’s novel “Inherent Vice”, and follows 1960s stoner P.I. Larry “Doc” Sportello (Phoenix) who is hired by an ex-girlfriend to investigate the disappearance of her wealthy lover.

Brolin will put in work on Vice before doing publicity tours for his three 2013 releases — Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For, Spike Lee‘s Oldboy and Jason Reitman‘s Labor Day. [Deadline]
