Jason Statham Confirmed for ‘Fast & Furious 7’

I don’t consider the news Jason Statham will play a role in Fast & Furious 7 to be a spoiler. Perhaps the character he plays is a bit of a spoiler (and the third and fourth paragraphs below reveals it), but not really as I get the impression he just might turn up in Fast & Furious 6 based on what Michelle Rodriguez had to say to DesdeHollywood (via The Playlist) as she confirmed his role in the next film.

“Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, when you see these guys in a room you know they belong together,” she said. “You can see in their eyes that they have gone through a lot… I applaud Universal for getting him on-board!”

As for what character he’ll play, the previous rumor stated Statham will have a cameo in Fast & Furious 6 as the brother to Luke Evans‘ character setting up the seventh film. Evans, of course, plays the film’s bad guy.

The seventh film is rumored to tie the entire franchise together with a scene that will supposedly take place somewhere in the middle of the timeline during 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift with Statham smashing up a car and then calling Vin Diesel‘s character with a threat.

Fast & Furious 6 hits theaters on May 24 with Fast & Furious 7 already locking up a July 11, 2014 date with James Wan (Insidious) directing.
