Zack Snyder is serving as producer on 300: Rise of an Empire, the sequel to his 2007 surprise hit 300, but this time he has passed the directorial reigns to Noam Murro, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t remaining closely involved.
Tonight Snyder premiered the first poster for the sequel on Twitter and the stark imagery from the first film is certainly remaining a constant.
Just as the first film, the sequel is based on a Frank Miller graphic novel, this time the brand new story “Xerxes”. Tthis new chapter runs parallel to the story told in 300, this time Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. Themistokles faces the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
300: Rise of an Empire is set for an August 2 release date. Check out the poster below.
