‘Jack Reacher’s Grit is Showing in New International Poster

I’m not a fan of the orange-ish hue being used for the Jack Reacher posters, but the fact the studio isn’t trying to sell spectacle has me curious. If anything this film looks, to me at least, like it may be going for a serious ’70s vibe with a hard-edged character. It looks like one of those films the word “grit” should be reserved for rather than the multitude of crap often given the designation.

My big concern is the PG-13 rating, though hard-edged doesn’t always have to mean blood-soaked. I’d love to show up and see a down-in-the-dirt cop drama with Tom Cruise playing a tough-as-nails, ex-military man out to find a trained military sniper and doing so without gadgetry and catch phrases, and more with brute force and pain — preferably from both sides of the fight.

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie based on the novel by Lee Child, Jack Reacher is only his second directorial outing after 2000’s The Way of the Gun, a film I have always wanted to see, but simply haven’t.
