The only thing from this just premiered poster for The Host, based on the novel by “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer, is the line where it says it’s premiering on ABC at 8 PT/ET. Then again, I guess that’s what happens when you start trying to build buzz for a film one year before it hits theaters and it’s still filming, similarly to how the poorly received non-teaser trailer looked, which is to say… half-assed.
Set to hit theaters on March 29, 2013, The Host is described as the story of the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie (Saoirse Ronan), one of the few remaining “wild” humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer (also played by Ronan), the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
The film is directed by Andrew Niccol (Lord of War) and along with Ronan the film stars Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger, William Hurt and Frances Fisher.
I have a few images from the film right here if you’re interested in exploring further.
