Tomorrow I have a choice to make, do I go see The Three Stooges or do I go see Lockout? I don’t think there’s a question of which one I will like more, but at the same time the buzz I’ve heard on one of them hasn’t exactly been good so it’s not as if I am somehow avoiding anything of high quality by going to one over the other. The most frustrating part of it all is how the two screenings have been spread out across the city to the point it is virtually impossible to see both, despite the fact one starts at 5 PM and the other at 7 PM. It’s almost as if the local publicists are playing with me, dangling a carrot as if to say, “What? It’s not like we scheduled them at the exact same time. You could have seen both.”
Anyway, to help make my decision Europacorp has released the first five minutes of Lockout, which has enjoyed every title change under the sun from Lock-Out to MS One: Maximum Security to Escape from M.S. One, the latter of which would seem to be the most appropriate given what I’ve heard about the film.
The story follows a falsely convicted ex-government agent (Guy Pearce), whose one chance at obtaining freedom lies in the dangerous mission of rescuing the President’s daughter (Maggie Grace) from rioting convicts at an outer space maximum security prison.
Just like The Three Stooges, Lockout hits theaters this Friday from Open Road Films. Give the first five minutes a look below and let me know if it’s enough to convince you to see it.
And then here’s even more Lockout for you to peep.
