All weekend long I was having to avoid TV spots for Dark Shadows, Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman while watching the NCAA tournament. I don’t know how many times I saw the above screen capture of Johnny Depp as the vampire Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows gazing upon a glowing McDonald’s sign, but I continually quickly switched from the image, the first time thinking it was actually a McDonald’s commercial only to now learn it was just a piece of MASSIVE product placement that somehow also found its way into the trailer. I wonder if Ronald funded the whole feature. Maybe the Collins family just sits around wolfing down Big Macs and Super Sized fries for dinner and takes in a McFlurry during the end credits.
I did catch a large portion of the Snow White and the Huntsman trailer and I am actually looking forward to that movie, I managed to click away from all the Prometheus trailers, which continued to play, and play, and play and I just let the trailers for Wrath of the Titans play. After all, what can you really be spoiling by showing me a bunch of CG monsters attacking? Then again, that’s probably all that film has to offer.
