Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ to Open 2012 Cannes Film Festival

Just Moonrise Kingdom, I said how I hoped it would play the Cannes Film Festival before hitting theaters on May 25, and it turns out it will do just that as it will be serve as the fest’s opening night film.

Starring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Harvey Keitel and Bob Balaban the story is set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s and follows the young boy and girl you see on the front of the poster as they fall in love. When they are moved to run away together, various factions of the town mobilize to search for them and the town is turned upside down.

Cannes kicks off on May 16 and I’ll be there for my third year in a row and will have a review of Moonrise Kingdom as soon as I can following its premiere. For now, why don’t you check out the trailer below and get a larger look at that poster right here.
