Filming is underway on The Lone Ranger and a first look image at Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the title character has arrived thanks to Jerry Bruckheimer and his Twitter account.
The film is set to hit theaters on May 31, 2013 and is described as a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
The film is directed by PIrates of the Caribbean helmer Gore Verbinski and along with Depp and Hammer it co-stars Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, Barry Pepper, Helena Bonham Carter and William Fichtner.
