A first look at the title character in Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming 2013 feature, Turbo has arrived online courtesy of Bleeding Cool and can be seen in full at the bottom of this post.
Turbo is set to hit theaters on July 19, 2013 from director David Soren (Merry Madagascar), who first brought the project to the studio, and produced by Lisa Stewart (Monsters vs. Aliens).
Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After) co-wrote the script with Soren, which will tell the story of an ordinary garden snail with an impossible dream: to become the fastest snail in the world. When a freak accident gives him extraordinary speed, Turbo sets out to try to make this dream come true.
At this point the only confirmed member of the voice cast is Ryan Reynolds who will voice the lead character.
Looking at the image below I have to wonder, how long will it take for someone to call this Dreamworks’ attempt at kick-starting their own Cars franchise? And after that’s said who will be first to wonder why Dreamworks would attempt to mimic Pixar’s least-loved franchise? I’m not saying this, but you know someone will.
