Batpod Crashes on ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Set, Crowe Joins ‘Broken City’ and Wilson Joins ‘Prometheus’?

To this point Patrick Wilson (The A-Team) has not been mentioned as a member of the cast of Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, but now a small blurb in the “St. Petersberg Times” says the Watchmen actor will move from Prometheus to his new CBS drama “A Gifted Man”. No word on what character he will play or if he’s already done shooting, but it is an interview piece with Wilson so perhaps it’s legit. [St. Petersberg Times]

Last week it was reported that Another Earth star Brit Marling was being looked at by Steven Soderbergh for his male stripper flick Magic Mike, Christopher McQuarrie for One Shot with Tom Cruise and Robert Redford for his adaptation of the Neil Gordon novel The Company You Keep. Looks like Redford was the first to get a bite. Marling is in talks to play the female lead in The Company You Keep which Redford will direct and stars as a former militant wanted by the FBI who must go on the run when his true identity is exposed by an ambitious young reporter (Shia LaBeouf). In a press release Lionsgate announced Kenny Ortega (Michael Jackson’s This is It) will direct a Dirty Dancing remake which is described in the release saying this “new film is a celebration of one of the most beloved movies of all time. Paying tribute to the emotional excitement of first love, the thrills and complexity of sexual awakening, the soul stirring power of dance, and the classic tale of teenage Baby’s forbidden romance with Johnny Castle, the remake will incorporate classic songs from the 1960s, hits from the original film and brand new compositions.” There is no word on casting as of yet.

Millenium Films has acquired the rights to The Bricklayer, the best-selling novel by former FBI agent Noah Boyd, and attached Gerard Butler to star as a rogue former agent who’s called in to help battle a criminal group that is demanding an escalating series of multi-million dollar ransom payments. Hanna Weg (Enigma) is adapting the novel for the screen. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Russell Crowe is joining Mark Wahlberg in Broken City for director Allen Hughes (The Book of Eli). The film finds Wahlberg as an ex-cop-turned-private detective who is hired by the mayor (Crowe) to see if his wife is cheating on him. The private eye confirms those suspicions, and when the mayor’s wife’s cheating partner ends up dead, the private eye immerses himself in the mayor’s business and uncovers a real estate scandal that involves the mayor dealing himself choice city-owned properties. The independently financed film is budgeted at $60 million. [Deadline]
