First Clip from ‘Fright Night’ Offers a Vampire Heart-to-Heart

I am sending back three DVDs to Netflix today and one of the three in my upcoming queue is the original 1985, Tom Holland written and directed Fright Night and I absolutely cannot wait to see it. I am also quite excited about the upcoming remake, which I told you last week received an R rating for bloody horror violence and language including some sexual references.

The remake is directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl), who recently scored the job to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and stars Anton Yelchin, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette and Imogen Poots.

The story centers on high school senior Charlie Brewster (Yelchin) and what happens when Jerry (Farrell) moves in next door. Jerry seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right — but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Fright Night is set to hit theaters on August 19 from DreamWorks Pictures as it has found its new home at Walt Disney (yeah, a Disney-related film scored that R rating I mentioned above).
