Both posters for Dreamworks’ upcoming robot boxing movie, Real Steel, have looked like they’re marketing a new mo-cap CG feature. Unless you’d seen a trailer I don’t see how that’s exactly what an audience would be expecting as Hey You Guys has just debuted a new international poster for the Hugh Jackman starrer that’s set to hit theaters on October 7.
Directed by Shawn Levy (Date Night), I can’t say I have any real kind of expectation for this film myself. I’m stuck in the middle to where I think it could possibly be a lot of fun or incredibly stupid, and neither opinion am I will to accept at this point. As always, I’ll hope for the best and I’m definitely keeping my mind open as I haven’t watched a single piece of marketing in the hope it will truly surprise.
I’ve added the new international poster below along with the film’s synopsis. In case you haven’t yet seen the domestic teaser poster, I’ve added both that one and this new one to the gallery in much larger versions right here. Browse, enjoy and let me know your early thoughts on this film in the comments below.
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel†stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
