The studios have hardly given me a chance to breathe today as trailer after trailer and clip after clip have debuted, the latest comes from Fox Searchlight giving us the first trailer for Sideways helmer, Alexander Payne’s The Descendants of which we just saw the first poster for just yesterday.
The film was written by Payne and new-to-feature-film-writers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash. The film is adapted from Kaui Hart Hemmings’ novel and centers on Matt King (George Clooney), an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.
The Descendants is set for a prime Oscar season release on December 16. Check out the trailer directly below.
