Touring the Croisette: ‘Cowboys and Aliens,’ ‘Transformers 3,’ ‘Pirates,’ ‘Tintin’ and More Market Their Goods

The banner for The Smurfs is atop the Carlton Hotel.

That’s John Malkovich and Patrick Dempsey in the animated Transformers: Dark of the Moon advertisement covering the entrance to the Carlton.

And here’s another look at that.

Yup, that’s a massive pair of boots for DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots, of which I’ll be seeing some footage in just about 12 hours from now.

Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea ) apparently directed 5 Days of August starring Rupert Friend, Val Kilmer, Andy Garcia, Dean Cain, Emmanuelle Chiriqui and Heather Graham. And yet, it played at the American Film Market last year and wasn’t picked up.

IMDb has a plot synopsis that says it is a drama centered around the war between Russia and Georgia, and focused on an American journalist, his cameraman, and a Georgian native who become caught in the crossfire. They also say it is opening in Georgia this June. I wonder if anyone will pick it up for stateside delivery.

So the geniuses behind Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck are preparing to spoof Avatar with The Biggest Movie of All Time 3D. You buying a ticket?

Final pick was snapped in front of the Carlton as well promoting J.J. Abrams’ Super 8.
