Chris Morgan Discusses the Making of ‘Fast Five’

I will be seeing Fast Five in just under ten hours from the time I hit publish on this post and I can’t wait. Outside of the third installment, the other three have been wildly entertaining and I’m expecting more of the same from this one.

Featured just below is a video interview with Chris Morgan, screenwriter of Fast Five as well as the upcoming Keanu Reeves samurai feature 47 Ronin. He reveals some very interesting details about the screenwriting process and what he was thinking when it came to the film’s action sequences.

After watching this video I’m left to wonder What will Morgan do with Fast Six? as he has already been commissioned to pen the next installment. Over at Deadline, Nikki Finke reports Universal plans on turning the street racing franchise into a full-blown heist related franchise with the sixth installment centered around a major robbery. Finke seems to think this is something new, but in fact these films have always been about heists, that is outside of the fish out of water, Karate Kid-style third one.

Finke’s post says The Rock will also be back for the sixth installment. Quoted in the article, Universal chairman Adam Fogelson said, “Based on screenings, this is the highest-testing movie in the franchise so far, but we’ve absolutely left perfect room for where we want to go with this franchise. I don’t want to give away too much, but there are a lot of surprises at the end of Fast Five involving one of the biggest characters of the previous movies which will set up the franchise now as a series of heist action films.”

Fast Five hits theaters this Friday, April 29 and stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Matt Schulze and Tego Calderon. For more on the film click here.

* Yes, the video is satire, but the news following the video is all real.
