The streak will continue this weekend as Tron: Legacy is looking at $14 ticket prices and an easy victory. Still, there’s some drama to be had down the board with The Fighter going wide and Black Swan getting nearly 1,000 theaters. Let’s break this thing down!
Laremy predicted the #1 movie correctly 6 Weeks In A Row

2. Yogi Bear
Other prognosticators are more bullish. I don’t think it will thrive, because the trailers look crushingly terrible. About two million people will see it, less than a million sad parents, all of whom will question their life choices immediately afterward.
Prediction: $17.58 million
3. The Fighter
The Fighter will end up with the third highest per theater average, behind only Tron: Legacy and Black Swan. The momentum is here for this film, it has come on strong over the course of the past two weeks.
Prediction: $15.4 million
Our first wide release holdover of the weekend, I’m only dipping it 40 percent because consensus has formed around it being a decent children’s film.
Prediction: $14.4 million
5. Black Swan
A really tough title to predict as it goes from 90 to 950 theaters. Demand is certainly there in little pockets, but Aronofsky has zero precedent for a weekend like this. Here’s hoping this is the start of that track record.
Prediction: $12.21 million
I’m not sure how you know, but I’ve received reports that this is a nightmare on wheels. Paul Rudd is uber-likable, but Dinner for Schmucks proved he’s willing to take a paycheck for a film lacking in comedy.
Prediction: $11.17 million
7. Tangled
The best wide release holdover of the weekend! $200m worldwide and rising! Sorry. I’m not sure why I went all exclamatory on you.
Prediction: $9.65 million
8. The Tourist
I can’t imagine how anyone would see this and nominate it for a Golden Globe. Reason number twelve I’ll never make it into the Hollywood Foreign Press.
Prediction: $7.41 million
We’re about to close the book on this Harry Potter, it will end up well short of last year’s Half-Blood Prince haul.
Prediction: $4.41 million
10. Unstoppable
My fervent hope is for a sequel involving runaway roller coasters.
Prediction: $2.28 million
How say you? Do you have more aggressive numbers for Tron: Legacy? Do you like The Fighter to fight back? Will Black Swan continue with the gaudy per theater average? It’s high time you start commenting, Brad will be back on Sunday to wrap this weekend up nice and neat.
