Yikes, Who Made the New ‘Made in Dagenham’ Poster?

Sony Pictures Classics just sent over the following new poster for Made in Dagenham starring Sally Hawkins in the true story of a group of women in the ’60s who work at Dagenham’s Ford Motor Factory who end up standing up for themselves in the face of their bosses, communities and local government.

I’ve seen this film already and it’s quite good and I’ve already spoke highly of Hawkins’ performance saying she “is one of the best and most underrated actresses working today. She’s brilliant in [Made in Dagenham] and if the picture is embraced as it should be she could be a major contender.”

I’m not sure to what degree the film will be embraced this weekend as it’s looking at a release in only three theaters, but this poster is horrendous and is likely to have everyone running the other way. Hawkins looks like a zombie and just what exactly is the poster trying to say? She looks like a ’60s era housewife being sold into slavery at auction. Someone wake her up!

The fact this is SPC’s final battle cry before the film hits limited release is, quite frankly, embarrassing.
