At the end of last week it was announced Ed Harris had joined the cast of Asger Leth’s Man On a Ledge for Summit Entertainment and over the weekend it was announced principal photography on the film was underway. Along with the production announcement comes the above image featuring Sam Worthington (Avatar) as the titular star of the film.
Principal photography is underway in New York City on the film centering on an ex-cop and now wanted fugitive (Worthington) who stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while a hard-living New York Police Department hostage negotiator (Elizabeth Banks) tries to talk him down. The longer they are on the ledge, the more she realizes that he might have an ulterior objective.
Joining Worthington in the pic are Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), who portrays Worthington’s best friend and ally and Jamie Bell (Jumper) who is Worthington’s younger brother and ardent supporter. Ed Harris (The Rock) who plays a powerful businessman, Edward Burns (27 Dresses) is a rival negotiator who tries to swoop in when he believes Banks has a conflict of interest and newcomer Genesis Rodriguez (Casa di me Padre) plays Bell’s girlfriend who along with Bell, tries to prove Worthington’s innocence.
If you’re unfamiliar with Asger Leth, don’t worry, he’s yet to make a splash in cinemas thus far. However, he was expected to helm a remake of the 1993 Italian film La Scorta with a screenplay by Peter Craig (The Town) and Josh Brolin set to star, but Universal killed the film five weeks before production was to begin over budgetary and script concerns, not to mention worries over shooting a drug-related drama on location in Mexico.
