Nolan On ‘Batman 3,’ Cruise Begins Filming ‘Mission 4’ and Plummer Joins ‘Dragon Tattoo’

I’m sorry, but I have absolutely now enthusiasm for any of the supposed “news” that’s out there right now, but dammit I need to post something so you guys don’t think I’ve gone and retired so here’s a round up of some of the slightly more interesting tidbits rummaging around the Internet at the moment.

First off, filming is underway in Prague on Mission: Impossible IV and photos of Tom Cruise on set donning a Russian military disguise and mustache have arrived. Cruise is joined by Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov, Michael Nyqvist, Josh Holloway, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames in the film which is being directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles) and will hit theaters on December 16, 2011. You can click here for a look at all of the photos in one of the most annoying page-by-page photo galleries you’ll find online.

Next comes word Christopher Plummer has joined the cast of David Fincher’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo as Henrik Vanger, the Swedish businessman that sets Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) on the trail to find out what happened to his niece several years ago. Plummer joins Rooney Mara who will play the titular character Lisbeth Salandar, Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard and Robin Wright. Plummer’s casting comes as a bit of a minor surprise as Max von Sydow was originally being sought for the role.

For anyone that’s up-to-date on the plot of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn you already know things get a bit crazy as Jacob (Taylor Lautner) falls in love imprints on a baby. Well, that little baby has apparently been found by way of 9-year old Mackenzie Foy. Of course, Foy will play the daughter of Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) at a later stage in life, but it should be quite exciting to see the 18-year-old Lautner getting all hot and bothered by a nine-year-old.

In other Breaking Dawn casting news, Maggie Grace (Taken) will play the role of Irina, a member of the Denali coven, considered cousins to the Cullen clan as the only other “vegetarian” vampire group. When Irina blames the Cullens for the death of her lover, her actions set in motion a terrifying chain of events.

Next comes word Gore Verbinski is considering reteaming with Johnny Depp with The Lone Ranger after Verbinski handed off directorial reigns on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides to Rob Marshall after directing Depp in the first three installments which concluded with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End in 2007. Depp is set to play Tonto in the film, which still doesn’t have a start date.

Finally, Christopher Nolan has given what most are calling “confirmation” he’s directing Batman 3 in an interview with Empire saying, “It’s becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way, I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing soÂ… If I haven’t announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it.” So yeah, as if we didn’t know that.
