34 New ‘Tron Legacy’ Production and Concept Art Photos

Walt Disney Pictures has just delivered 34 new production stills and concept art from Tron Legacy, a film that has endured some scrutiny as of late concerning reshoots and rumors lead actor Garrett Hedlund wasn’t cutting the mustard.

Director Joseph Kosinski addressed the concerns in an interview with Collider recently saying:

I like to call it additional photography because it really was additional photography. We added about five or six minutes to the movie, most of it in the first 20 minutes. Most of the shooting was done to set up Sam a little bit better and to give him a little more context. A couple scenes were done to bring to the surface some of the themes of the movie and to show the relationship of Sam and his father a little more clearly. Some of it was just picking up visual effects plates and inserts that we just were never able to get when we first shot.

While Kosinski does reference Hedlund’s character, Sam Flynn, he doesn’t say anything that would lead us to believe the rumors were true. Of course, it’s not likely a director would throw his star and film by relation under the bus, so take his statement for whatever you deem it to be worth.

Tron Legacy will be released in theaters on December 17 and picks up 25 years from where the 18-year-old original left off. Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
