First Look at the Korean Thriller ‘I Saw the Devil’ Pitting ‘Oldboy’ Against Storm Shadow

Min-sik Choi in I Saw the Devil

For any fan of Oldboy or perhaps the Korean horror A Tale of Two Sisters, which was later remade into The Uninvited, you’re likely to be interested in Ji-woon Kim’s new thriller I Saw the Devil, which will have its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

The film is described as a hard-boiled thriller starring Byung-hun Lee (played Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and Min-sik Choi (Oldboy and Lady Vengeance). The story centers on a man (Lee) seeking revenge on the psychopathic killer (Choi) that murdered his fiancee.

Ji-woon Kim previously wrote and directed A Tale of Two Sisters and The Good, the Bad, the Weird.

On top of the international teaser below, I’ve added five images from the film to the gallery, which you can begin browsing right here. The film will debut on August 11 in South Korea prior to its September screening in Toronto
