Ain’t It Cool News has debuted the above concept art giving you a look at what actor Chris Evans may look like in the Joe Johnston-directed Marvel adaptation The First Avenger: Captain America. The images were sent to the site via a nicknamed reader, but Mike Sampson at JoBlo saw the same images a few days earlier and confirms they are the real deal.
I’m not one to get too caught up in the costume design of comic characters, not being a comic book reader myself, but I’m sure those of you out there that care about such things will find these pieces interesting and can hopefully offer up your thoughts in the comments below.
For me, Captain America hinges on the director. Joe Johnston’s The Wolfman was a miss in my opinion and Hidalgo and Jurassic Park III aren’t exactly wonderful achievements. Comic book adaptations have become something more than just men in tights and I’m not sure Johnston is capable of delivering anything else, which is the main reason these designs don’t really concern me, although that’s probably also because they look pretty good.
