Vote on Fox’s ‘Transformers 3’ Replacement, Cooper Playing Young Stark and Bell for ‘Scream 4’

It’s Down to Three for Megan Fox’s Transformers Replacement: GeekWeek was the first to report Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Megan Fox’s replacement in Transformers 3, but it appears it isn’t a done deal. Deadline reports, competing with Huntington-Whiteley for the role are Sarah Wright (Surfer, Dude) and Andy Roddick’s wife and “Sports Illustrated” swimsuit cover model Brooklyn Decker. The decision is expected to be made within the week.

Lake Bell Joins Scream 4: Five days ago it was announced Lake Bell (It’s Complicated) would star as a police officer who knew Sidney (Neve Campbell) from high school in Scream 4 and along with that news came word the production was also after Ashley Greene (Twilight), Hayden Panettiere (“Heroes”) and Rory Culkin to join the cast. Greene would play Campbell’s cousin Jill, essentially the heroine of the movie, and Panettiere would play her best friend, a nerdy film geek. Culkin would play a potential love interest for Jill. Casting is going slowly apparently because only character descriptions are being sent out to keep a certain level of secrecy for the film, which is currently slated for an April 15, 2011 release. Production is expected to begin in July in Michigan. [Heat Vision]

Cooper Playing Young Howard Stark in Captain America: Dominic Cooper (An Education) will reportedly play a young Howard Stark in Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger, a role played by John Slattery in archived footage in Iron Man 2. The news originally came from Salon.com and was then followed up and confirmed by SuperHeroHype. Captain America hits theaters on July 22.

Peyton Directing Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 and Fraser Not Returning?: Eric Brevig was thought to be returning to direct Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 but apparently his production of Yogi Bear and the studio’s interest in starting in the fall prevents that from happening. As a result, Brad Peyton (Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore) is now set to direct and Fraser appears to have abandoned the role. Word is now the script is being rewritten to paint Josh Hutcherson as the lead character. However, it is said Fraser could still return, but he was primarily interested in returning for Brevig. After Furry Vengeance and Extraordinary Measures I don’t see how he can’t return. After all, he came back to make that awful Mummy movie for Rob Cohen. Then again, perhaps that was a lesson learned. Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 is currently slated for a September 23, 2011 release. [Deadline]
