Thanks to a heads up from Awards Daily we have the first official look at William Monahan’s London Boulevard starring Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley, David Thewlis, Anna Friel, Ben Chaplin, Eddie Marsan, Sanjeev Baskhar, Jamie Campbell Bower and Ray Winstone.
The pic comes from the official Graham King blog. The film is based on the book by Ken Bruen, “London Boulevard” telling the story of a man (Farrell) newly released from prison who falls in love with a reclusive young movie star (Knightley) and finds himself in a duel with a vicious gangster.
As of right now the film does not have distribution, but it is in the final stages of post production and with the talent involved I find it hard to believe someone won’t be picking it up soon for an Oscar run. I have already included it in the RopeofSilicon “The Contenders” section.
Next, to satisfy the comic book fans out there, Yahoo has debuted the first look at Chris Hemsworth as the title character in Marvel’s Thor, which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Paramount is set to release the film on May 6, 2011. Now here’s that pic…
