Woody Allen tends to keep his plot lines and titles to himself until enough details leak out for his upcoming films that we soon have a title and synopsis. I guess that means when he bucks the system and reveals not only the title, but the storyline for his next film it becomes a bit of a story as the Hollywood Reporter has got the goods on his star-studded Paris feature Midnight in Paris.
First off, until now the only known cast members were Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard and Rachel McAdams, and as if that wasn’t enough several more have been added to sweeten the deal. Newly announced cast members include Kathy Bates, Michael Sheen, Nina Arianda, Tom Hiddleston, Corey Stoll, Mimi Kennedy and Kurt Fuller. Also, there was recent confirmation that France’s first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, will also have a part, though it is thought to be a small cameo.
The film, is a romantic comedy about a family traveling to the French capital for business. The party includes a young engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a life different from their own is better.
Filming will take place in Paris this summer.
Allen’s next film, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is set to premiere at Cannes in May prior to its September 23 release from Sony Pictures Classics. The film stars Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Freida Pinto, Antonio Banderas and Lucy Punch.
