Box-Office Oracle: Mar. 12 – Mar. 14, 2010

#1 movie predicted correctly: 1 Week In A Row
Guys, it’s pretty much a mess. Nice action beats, but largely logic free. It feels like a pale version of Body of Lies in terms of box office.
Prediction: $14.28 million
I’m just happy to have four new movies out to project. This is a nice R-Rated film, perfect for fans of adult comedy.
Prediction: $11.82 million
$5,000 per theater, which will actually be #2 in the top ten for the weekend. It just doesn’t have the theater counts.
Prediction: $11.06 million
I love how they are marketing the ending. Advertisements will be the downfall of the big studios.
Prediction: $8.33 million
1,600 theaters. There’s no real reason to think this will make any noise this weekend.
Prediction: $8.03 million
Gained three theaters this weekend. Let’s find those new theaters, people!
Prediction: $5.35 million
$2.6b. Probably won’t hit $2.7b, right?
Prediction: $4.84 million
If the production budget is $27m I’m not sure how set up they are here. That would mean it needs to hit $60m, minimum, to have a chance at profit. Right now it stands at $34m. That’s not enough.
Prediction: $4.67 million
The Ghost Writer is up to 224 theaters this weekend. I don’t think that will be enough to crack the top ten, but I’m open to suggestions.
Prediction: $3.47 million

How say you? Willing to go up to $20m for any of these new releases? Am I too high on Alice in Wonderland? Comment early, comment often.
