‘Inglourious Basterds’ and ‘Nine’ Lead the Way with the Predictable BFCA

The Broadcast Film Critics Association likes to think of themselves as the most significant awards predicting the Oscar nominees and winners. Considering they open their categories to six nominees when need be it makes for very few surprises with any of them. So of course their noms will closely mirror the Oscars, it also makes for quite the predictable group of awards. As a matter of fact I don’t think you will be surprised by a single nominee below as their selections seem more like an Oscar prediction table than an actual group trying to award what they feel are the best in the business. This may very well be what they believe the best in the business to be, but if your only value is to be an early Oscars preview what’s the point?

Either way, Inglourious Basterds and Nine received the most mentions with 10 nominations each. You tell me, any surprise additions or omissions in this bunch? The Critics’ Choice Awards will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 and I believe broadcast for the first time at 9:00pm PST on VH1.
