Carey Mulligan Cast in Stone’s ‘Wall Street 2’

Nicole Sperling at Entertainment Weekly is reporting Carey Mulligan has joined the cast of Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps at 20th Century Fox. Mulligan will co-star as the estranged daughter to disgraced corporate titan Gordon Gekko played once again by Michael Douglas who won an Oscar for playing the same character in the 1987 original. Also starring are Shia LaBeouf and Frank Langella.

Sperling also continues rumors saying Josh Brolin is in negotiations for a part as the villainous hedge funder, but that is still yet to be confirmed.

For those of you that don’t know Carey Mulligan, you will very soon. She played one of Keira Knightley’s little sisters in 2005’s Pride & Prejudice, will star opposite her again in Fox Searchlight’s Never Let Me Go and is only months away from what I believe will be an assured Oscar nomination for her role in An Education due in theaters on October 9 from Sony Pictures Classics.

I caught An Education earlier this week and it is simply phenomenal with Mulligan’s performance serving as the film’s guiding light. While her role in Wall Street 2 sounds like it could be rather minimal, it will be interesting to see where her career goes from here.

Wall Street 2 is set to hit theaters on April 23, 2010.
