Focus Taps Ole Bornedal for Dean Koontz Adaptation

I have never read a Dean Koontz novel, but I know he is wildly popular and it appear Focus Features is ready to take advantage of that first look deal they scored with Random House as they have set Danish helmer Ole Bornedal to rewrite and direct The Husband based on the 2006 Koontz novel.

The story centers on a man whose marriage is tested over the course of 60 harrowing hours after he receives a devastating call from a stranger. Screen Daily reports the most recent draft of the script was penned by Glenn Gers who co-wrote the 2007 Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling thriller Fracture.

I know nothing of Bornedal’s work, but Focus CEO James Schamus tells Screen Daily, “Ole’s work, as a writer-director who deftly crafts human-scaled stories of suspense and drama, makes him the ideal film-maker to bring Dean’s gripping bestseller to the screen.” I guess I’ll have to take him at his word… for now… Then again, Bornedal’s Just Another Love Story is available on NetFlix instant play… Perhaps I will know more sooner than later.
