Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus has received a new bit of release information via The Risky Biz Blog, which confirms the film is definitely in at the Cannes Film Festival, and will get the full sales push from Cinetic, which sources say will rep the Gilliam effort.
The film still does not have a domestic distributor, but should the Croisette showing impress I am sure it will be snatched up quickly and perhaps even by a major.
In other Cannes news it was recently said Francis Ford Coppola’s Tetro will not end up playing at the festival, as it will make its debut in my backyard at the Seattle International Film Festival. I actually saw it just yesterday and liked it quite a bit, but can’t post a review until June.
Also, Steven Zeitchik at Risky Biz reports Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds is still due to make an appearance, but those checking out after the first weekend had better change their travel plans as it most likely won’t be ready until after the weekend, possibly not until as late as the Wednesday of the fest (May 20 is the date), according to what Zeitchik’s hearing.
