Rourke from ‘Wrestler’ to Stallone’s ‘Expendables’

This new film from Sylvester Stallone sure is shaping up to be one hell of a curiosity as Variety has now announced Mickey Rourke has joined the cast of The Expendables, the new action adventure Stallone wrote and will be directing in March in Brazil.

Rourke is the latest of names to join the ensemble cast which now includes Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture and Dolph Lungdren with Forest Whitaker and Ben Kingsley also rumored to be aboard.

The main characters in the film (Stallone, Statham and Li) are sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is “expendable,” hired to do jobs that no one else can or will. Filming is expected to begin in February in Costa Rica and Louisiana. Rourke will play an unscrupulous arms dealer who becomes the go-to guy for a group of mercenaries planning to topple a South American dictator.

Sounds to me like it could be a lot of fun.
