Pixar’s ‘Up’ Gets Web Clipped

As I prepare all my end of year lists and start of 2009 lists one I have been cooking up takes a look at what will be the Oscar contenders of 2009. Of course, I might not release that list until late February or early March, but one I already had on it was Pixar’s Up (5/29), of which 45 minutes were recently featured at the Butt-numb-a-thon presented by Ain’t It Cool News and Devin Faraci at CHUD who saw the footage said it was the “most promising Pixar movie in years” and if the rest of the film is as good as what he saw it may be “one of the best films of next year”. Does this mean Up will also get the chance to be snubbed by Oscar in 2010? Oh, WALL•E would feel so proud to have such company.

Anyway, a new clip from the film has debuted over at the official site and can be seen directly below. Personally I love it. When Carl says, “No,” and slams the door it got a laugh out of me. The synopsis reads as follows:

Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate, and a persistent 8-year old Wilderness Explorer named Russell, gives him a new lease on life. Up takes audiences on a thrilling journey where the unlikely pair encounter wild terrain, unexpected villains and jungle creatures. When seeking adventure next summer – look Up.
