There isn’t a whole lot to this story other than to tell you Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first official image of the Enterprise from J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek. The article carries the following quote from Abrams:
“The coolest thing about it – maybe the coolest thing in the [original Star Trek motion picture] – was when you flew around the ship, you could see all the different panels that made up the ship,” says the director of the forthcoming Trek reboot, slated for a May 8, 2009 release. “It was the first time I had ever seen that level of attention, that love of detail, given to the tangible, practical reality of the ship.”
Apparently the idea behind the design was to “take the original TV series Enterprise and the movie franchise Enterprise and fuse them together into a new yet familiar Enterprise.” I have included both of the versions the article refers to just below.
As I have already mentioned several times, the new Star Trek trailer is set to debut in theaters with Quantum of Solace this weekend and then online on Monday. Also, there were 20 minutes of the film that recently screened in the UK, which IGN discussed over here. And finally I added two new poster images from the flick, which you can check out right here.
