‘Slumdog Millionaire’ London Film Festival Preview

I can’t help but have this feeling that 50% of the people visiting RopeofSilicon will have no idea what this film is and will overlook this headline while the other 50% will click instantly. I guess it all depends on whether or not you have been keeping up-to-date on my Oscar Updates because Slumdog Millionaire (11/12) looks as if it will be a bonafide hit of 2008 and I finally get to see it on Wednesday along with a truly exciting week of screenings including RocknRolla, Role Models, Quantum of Solace and ending with Let the Right One In. I mean, that’s five films I am anxious to see.

As for Slumdog, it’s directed by Danny Boyle (28 Days Later and Trainspotting) and tells the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” That’s the story at the center of the film, but there is much more to it. Give the preview a watch.

Thanks to Ryan at Awards Daily for the heads up.
