Ben Affleck is putting himself back to work as he sets out to rewrite the film adaptation of Charles Hogan’s “Prince of Thieves” a darkly criminal romance centered on Doug MacRay, a Boston-based career thief at the head of a group of four thieves. The story follows Doug who becomes enamored with Claire Keesey, the manager of the bank he and his pals have just robbed, but she doesn’t know he was one of them. Peter Craig and Hogan did the original draft.
Affleck is not only aiming to write the adaptation but also star in and direct the feature for Warner Bros. I am not sure what the aim of the story will be following the adaptation considering the “prince” in Hogan’s title refers to MacRay as the prince of his group. Instead of going with “Prince of Thieves” as the title the film will be called The Town.
The film will be another Massachusetts tale for Affleck following up on his feature directing debut Gone Baby Gone, which was also a Boston tale.
Affleck will next be seen in the romantic comedy He’s Just Not That Into You followed by the thriller State of Play. He is also set to co-star in Mike Judge’s Extract.
