USA Today has scored another look at Snake Eyes from Paramount’s G.I. Joe (first pic here) as well as some additional story details.
First off, Joe director Stephen Sommers is quoted talking about the silent assassin saying, “He’s the world’s greatest ninja, but he’s also next-generation. He’s not afraid to use a sword one second, and a split-second later he’s pulling out his Glock. His chief nemesis is arguably the world’s other great ninja, Storm Shadow. The two grew up together, were blood brothers and now are mortal enemies.”
The article also points out cast and character relation information we already knew, but there was an interesting detail in which it says not only does Joseph Gordon-Levitt play the Cobra Commander, he also plays “multiple roles”. What the other roles are I have no idea. Perhaps this has been mentioned before, but it is the first time I have heard of it.
One quote Sommers gave gives me some kind of idea as two what kind of film it is going to be by saying, “There are quite a few characters in it, and almost certainly a character in which an audience member can see themselves, or want to be.” This tells me he is aiming for a very young audience since I don’t imagine a lot of adults running around pretending to be ninjas and weapons experts. Whether this hurts the film or not is yet to be seen of course, but I continue to hope for the best.
