Somehow Universal and Marvel managed to keep the story under wraps for several years, but ever since Ang Lee directed Hulk back in 2003 the FBI had been looking into the possibility that the Hulk was, in fact, using steroids and/or other performance-enhancing drugs.
FBI spokeswoman Debra Weierman made the announcement Sunday saying, “The request to open an investigation on the Incredible Hulk has been turned over to the FBI and will receive appropriate investigative action by the FBI’s Hollywood field office.”
Several superheroes have been coming out of the woodwork claiming the Hulk’s been using ever since his comic debut in May of 1962. Batman is particularly upset since he must resort to a sculpted costume to let on that he is “in shape”. Superman claims his alien roots are the source of his inexplicable powers and Wolverine has always held to the fact that his participation in the Weapon X program resulted in his super-human powers. Both Superman and Wolverine have been given a pass, however, neither were available for comment.
Batman did comment, but kept his statement simple, “Look at him? Seriously, who doesn’t think he is using?”
Law enforcement officials say the inquiry into the Hulk is likely to get personal as they suspect Betty Ross may have been slipping him something as part of an experiment instigated by her father General Thunderbolt Ross, despite the perceived feud between Hulk’s close friend and confidant Bruce Banner and the General.
Hulk doesn’t have a personal trainer and his tendency to break things and get upset is going to make the investigation process difficult, but Weierman believes the FBI will be able to get to the bottom of the situation before the latest film idolizing the comic icon hits theaters on June 13th.
The picture at the top of this article and the one below certainly aided the swift nature in which the FBI acted after several superheroes requested an investigation finally be opened.
Stay tuned as we will be sure to bring you more as it is announced.
