MUST BUYS

There is one of only two must buys this week, but it is a film that I have seen plastered all over the television lately so I am sure most of you are aware No Country for Old Men hits DVD today. The odd thing is to wonder if they had put this much money in advertising the film when it was in theaters if it would have even done better then. Either way this is one to buy. I live blogged it and Domenic reviewed it. Now you have to go buy it. BUY IT AT AMAZON

This may seem like an odd must buy, but I am obviously adding it for the folks that are interested in animation. Unfortunately I don’t have it in the database (sue me), but I did get a chance to check out the DVD and it is a lot of fun. It uses something comprable to the motion-capture Robert Zemeckis used for Beowulf and Polar Express, but it maintains that animated feel, which ultimately doesn’t make it creepy looking, it just makes it a rather good animated feature that I believe is definitely worth checking out. Animation and anime fans should have a lot of fun with it. It’s available on DVD and Blu-ray and you can order either by clicking on the Buy Now link. BUY IT AT AMAZON

THE REST

I am leading off with Dan in Real Life because I cannot say whether it is good or not since I missed it in theaters and have yet to get a chance to pop the Blu-ray into the player. However, despite how bad the trailers look and the fact that Dane Cook is in it, I have heard it isn’t all that bad. This may be one to grab off the rental shelves and give it a shot. BUY IT AT AMAZON

Personally I thought this was an awful film and I am a HUGE fan of Jerry Seinfeld. It has one of the worst messages ever, which is something to the effect of “don’t ever try” and Jerry’s high and whiny voice actually annoyed me for the very first time. BUY IT AT AMAZON

This is, plain and simply, an awful film. I have heard people applaud the remake and even some critics liked this version, but altogether it is terrible. You will enjoy it when it begins, but there is a twist in the middle that is so obvious and absolutely terrible it embarassed me to watch it. BUY IT AT AMAZON

Along with Dan in Real Life this is another Blu-ray disc I have not yet had a chance to pop in the player (perhaps tonight I will have these reviewed for you). I have heard mixed feelings about it. Some people adore it, Laremy hated it. I am at least willing to give it a shot. I will report back as soon as I can. BUY IT AT AMAZON

I have told everyone that ever asks and some that didn’t that I absolutely hate this movie. It is terrible and that’s all there is to it. If you haven’t read my DVD live blog I urge you to do so. It spoils the film (if that is even possible) and will hopefully get you to never, ever watch it. BUY IT AT AMAZON

I just added this today, knowing that some folks will be interested. I have no interest but who am I to stop you from taking enjoyment? Especially considering it is the #1 seller this week… Above No Country! BUY IT AT AMAZON
