First off, check out this Christmas ad from Wal-Mart…
Now know that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has picked Blu-ray over HD DVD in the market battle for the format of high-definition video.
Wow, what a difference two months makes for the nation’s largest retailer to dupe their customers into buying an HD DVD player, which makes “Christmas a very, very good day” and then saying, “You know what? We hope you had a good Christmas because 2008 is gonna suck for HD DVD.”
The news comes as Gary Severson, head of home entertainment for Wal-Mart’s U.S. stores said, “We’ve listened to our customers, who are showing a clear preference toward Blu-ray products and movies with their purchases.”
Wal-Mart said it will phase out all HD DVD offerings by June. Wal-Mart stores and Sam’s Clubs membership warehouses will continue to sell standard definition movies and DVD players as well as converter technology.
Merry Christmas Wal-Mart shoppers. Come June you are ultimately screwed.
